For a good cause, Canon wants to go way up: On September 26th, the company will print the longest digital photo in the world on the Oberstdorf ski jump. With the world record attempt, Canon supports “Look! eV “, an association for child and victim aid. The campaign takes place as part of the 8th Oberstdorf Photo Summit, at which numerous offers and exhibitions around photography await those interested and fans of photography and video formats from September 23rd to 27th. Interested parties can follow the campaign shortly at www.worldrecord.canon.de and join the charity campaign.

Oberstdorf is well known for records and top performances, but so far it has played a major role in ski jumping: the opening competition of the world-famous Four Hills Tournament has been taking place here since 1953. On September 26th, another world record could be added to the history of Germany's southernmost municipality, which can then lead to an entry in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ book. This time, however, the focus is not on the best ski jumpers from all over the world, but on the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-6100 large format photo printer. Canon would like to use him to take the longest digitally printed photo in the world on the 108-meter-long Schattenbergschanze. For this purpose, the printer is placed at the highest point of the jump so that the final photo print can slide down the jump piece by piece in front of the audience, printed on special paper from the manufacturer Ilford. As soon as the 108 meters are reached, the world record will be attested by an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ record judge on site. The print will be a collage of photos of Oberstdorf citizens and personalities and panoramic shots from the region.

Attempting to record for a good cause

At the center of the attempt to achieve a world record is Canon "Schaut hin! EV", an association dedicated to helping children and victims. Canon donates a basic amount for every successful meter of the world record pressure. Additional funds bring donations from visitors who take advantage of Canon's offers for photo workshops, camera rentals, printing out their own photos and cleaning camera sensors. And last but not least, the individual motifs of the world record printing will be auctioned at www.fotogipfel-oberstdorf.de/charity-auktion in favor of the children's and victims' help association.
