Weerg expands its range of finishes with the new anodizing service

February 11, 2019

Easier, faster and increasingly complete. Weerg's offer - a platform that offers online CNC and 3D processing entirely Made in Italy - opens in 2019 with the introduction of a new service dedicated to those who order CNC parts and components. In fact, the range of finishes available for aluminium processing has been extended with the introduction of anodizing. This particular treatment consists in the application of a protective layer of about 25 microns that, in addition to the pure aesthetic factor, significantly improves the resistance of the parts to corrosion, wear and abrasion, increases the surface hardness and provides at the same time a moderate thermal insulation. Proposed by Weerg in the black colour, this ennoblement also facilitates the gluing and subsequent application of paints and lubricants.

"Anodization is currently one of the most requested galvanic processes and involves transversal sectors ranging from architecture to aeronautics, from sports equipment to the aerospace industry, from medical to electronics", underlines Matteo Rigamonti, creator and founder of Weerg. "Extremely diverse fields of application like our customers, to whom we once again offer the convenience of a unique service in the world of mechanics, where the watchword is optimization.” The decision to introduce anodization stems in fact from a specific need expressed by many users who, after having ordered from Weerg, found themselves having to carry out research and negotiations with off-line suppliers to obtain this process, which in itself has a very relative cost compared to that of the piece to be anodized.

Like the entire Weerg offer, the new coating can be selected with a click already at the estimate stage, with the transparency of certain costs calculated in real time. A simplicity to which are added the advantages of guaranteed delivery times starting from 10 days (already including the anodizing process), and high quality standards ensured by the advanced production systems that Weerg uses.

The company, which by the end of March will complete its move to its new headquarters in Gardigiano, is in fact equipped with a fleet of the latest generation machines which, for the CNC, is composed of 10 Hermle C42U 5-axis continuous machines lined up in two batteries of 5 each, completely automated through the implementation of anthropomorphic robots and a Wenzel LH series coordinate measuring machine. In addition to the CNC processing department, Weerg also has a 3D Printing line for which it has the largest installation of HP Jet Fusion 4210 printers in Southern Europe. Technological choices that aim for excellence and define Weerg as a 4.0 industry model where everything is perfectly orchestrated by what happens online on the e-commerce platform. Here, more than 15,000 requests for estimates are sent daily, converting them into a daily average of 150 orders, of which about 60% concern the CNC itself, with the request for processing that in 70% of cases is carried out in aluminium.

Among the many services made available by Weerg directly online, there is also another exclusive finishing treatment, available for all metal processing: the Lancet™ nanosphere shot peening, which smoothens the surface of the pieces making them uniformly and pleasantly opaque with a final effect similar to sandblasting.
