What can be achieved with the state-of-the-art multicolor techniques? What quality levels can be obtained in multicolor proofing and separation? These questions were the focus of the first Multicolor Forum, organized by Fogra in Munich. In a "shootout," Fogra provides the nine leading technology providers the opportunity to compete in five different disciplines. The vendor-neutral event was aimed at obtaining useful results without selecting a winner.

Color management specialist GMG is releasing an upgrade to its GMG OpenColor profiling solution. Version 2.2 of the multi-award-winning software incorporates automatic, spectral data-based optimization of measurement data.

Color management experts GMG have further expanded their plugin for Adobe Photoshop in Version 1.3. Now color accurate separations from RGB into Multicolor color spaces are possible with up to seven colors. This is based on GMG OpenColor separation profiles. GMG product manager Peter Schöffler explains: "By using separation with the ChannelExtender, image data can be flexibly adapted to the printing process used." The conversion can be switched on or off at any stage during image processing. This way the final result can be directly simulate at any stage of processing. A further innovation: The ColorBoost function makes images more saturated and vivid.

Global Graphics Software and GMG announce a technology partnership that will overcome the color management and quality issues often found in digital packaging and label production. The partnership will make GMG’s award-winning technology available within Fundamentals, Global Graphics Software’s toolkit for building a digital front-end for inkjet presses. Fundamentals is a software and engineering services package that helps inkjet press manufacturers get to market quicker.

With GMG CoZone 2.2 you can easily approve content and images via the cloud. Integrated soft and hard proofing and an optimized workflow create a particularly powerful solution. Thanks to its ultra high resolution, users can now also review designs for large-format productions in detail.

Color management expert GMG is making its proof control software for digital printing future-proof with version 2.4. Product manager Jens Bloeck explains: "We are meeting industry demands with the support of the digital standard Fogra PSD (process standard for digital production): process stability and quality assurance are playing an increasingly important role in digital printing."

At the upcoming 2018 Color Conference, attendees will have many opportunities to learn from—and about—GMG. The Color Conference, hosted by Printing Industries America and SGIA, will be held January 13-16 at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, San Diego.

Swanline Print, a trade supplier of specialist printed packaging and POS displays, recently invested in two HP Scitex FB10000 Industrial Printers and needed to ensure it had a robust colour management workflow to cope with the diversity of medias they use. A key consideration was the ability to achieve consistent and accurate colours to an industry recognised standard - Fogra 39 - as well as optimising ink consumption levels to ensure its clients receive the highest quality at a competitive rate.
