Dundee-based web-to-print business, Tradeprint, has installed GMG ColorServer Hybrid for colour consistency across multiple outputs, increased speed and cost reductions on consumables.
Large format print business VGL is a technology-driven company that required a more mature and streamlined approach to colour. Particularly across their retail and transport work, they needed the confidence that colour would be reproduced accurately as well as consistently over time. That’s why they turned to GMG ColorServer Digital to keep colours consistent across a dozen large format digital devices as well as a small format SRA3-size Indigo.
While digital printing is rapidly gaining importance, especially in the packaging industry, one question remains: How can we simulate Pantone Colours and custom brand colours with a fixed set of four to seven inks?
At HANS KOLB Wellpappe, the potential of digital printing was recognized early on and direct digital corrugated cardboard printing has opened up a completely new field of activity for the company. In order to ensure efficiency and quality right from the outset, GMG was called in to help implementing a digital workflow - focusing especially on color management.
GMG, a provider of color management solutions for packaging and industrial printing, is excited to launch a new solution especially for HP PageWide corrugated presses. GMG’s color management solutions, most notably GMG ColorServer Multicolor, work seamlessly with the HP One Package Workflow Suite to enable converters to make a smooth transition into digital printing. GMG color management software helps converters deliver a high degree of color predictability, whether for print production of complex packaging or color proofing.
GMG ColorServer is now addressing an even broader user base and, therefore relies on three solutions for different areas of the graphic arts industry: GMG ColorServer Conventional, GMG ColorServer Digital and GMG ColorServer Multicolor.
Where color management is now largely automated and standardized for the traditional 4-color printing processes, the demand for printing with an expanded color space – also referred to as ‚Extended Color Gamut‘ (or ECG) – is steadily increasing. ECG achieves a more vibrant print result and can replace the need for spot colors. This is especially interesting for packaging- and digital printing. These relatively new multi-color processes often present better results and more efficiency.
With the release of GMG ColorServer 5.1, the German based color management expert establishes new possibilities for its customers, notably for users from the packaging segment. Major challenges such as printing conditions that are out of the industry standards can be handled easily through the connection of GMG ColorServer and GMG OpenColor.
Ryerson University’s study, conducted in July 2019, has shown the capabilities of state-of-the-art extended gamut printing tools. Ten vendors participated in the study, including Tuebingen based color management specialist GMG with GMG OpenColor and GMG ColorServer. Two 7-color digital printing systems using CMYKOGV ink sets, Epson SureColor P9000 and HP Indigo 7900, were used for the evaluation of spot color reproduction during the test.
