The investment was prompted by a need to increase capacity to meet demand, but also to onboard the innovative functionality and productivity offered by the new press. Having won the EDP award for best roll-to-roll large format printing system upon launch, the Agfa Oberon RTR3300 features a host of features that deliver speed, quality and ease of use.
The Oberon RTR3300 prints onto rolls up to 3.3m wide, or simultaneously and independently on two separate 1.6m rolls in dual mode. It can also print onto a multitude of flexible media, opening up the possibility of products in a broad range of sizes and materials.
The printer comes equipped with state-of-the-art UV LED curing technology, promising immediate start-up and lower energy consumption. The Oberon 1470 inks it uses have achieved the highest category of Greenguard Gold certification with regard to chemical emissions.
A unique media loading setup makes for straightforward changeovers and lightweight carbon shafts mean a single operator can load rolls of material quickly and easily. Ease of use, combined with a free fall option for optimal media use and smart multi-queuing functionality, has made the Oberon a welcome addition to the production line at Solopress HQ.
By integrating the Oberon RTR3300 into our workflow, we’re further expanding our capacity to deliver fast-turnaround, high-quality, large-format print. In conjunction with the additional Fotoba cutter, the investment has made effective improvements to the efficiency and sustainability of our large format production. The versatility of the new set-up will also allow for more diverse and cost-effective product options in the future.”
