‘Mike the Wrapper’ sets sights on WrapFest title

March 08, 2023

A North East vehicle wrapper is looking to boost his accolades as the best vehicle wrapper in the UK and Ireland, having already secured the European Wrap Masters champion title in 2022.

Mike Szwacki, who is a Wrap Institute certified trainer and vehicle wrap training manager at William Smith Group 1832, will be competing at WrapFest this April, before heading to FESPA in Munich to defend his European title.

He was also a finalist in the prestigious World Wrap Masters in 2022, which he is hoping to qualify for again this year.

Clare Robinson, marketing executive at William Smith Group, said: “We’re all rooting for Mike and hope he retains his crown; he’s an excellent vehicle wrapper and really knows his stuff.

“Of course, we’re also extremely proud to have Mike on board here at the William Smith Training Academy; anyone who joins one of our courses can be sure they’re being taught by the best in the business.”

The Training Academy was launched 15 years ago to offer training and inspiration to people in the sign, graphics, and vehicle wrap industry. Both basic and advanced courses are available, as well as PPF (Paint Protection Film) training for any budding vehicle wrappers wanting to develop their skills in new areas.

Clare added: “Demand for a higher level of vehicle wrap training to complement our longstanding basic course has grown over the last few years, bringing about the development of the new Advanced Vehicle Wrap Course and a Wrap Room upgrade.

“This two-day training option will offer experienced vehicle wrappers a course designed specifically to take their wrapping skills to the next level, focusing on door shuts, wing mirrors, door handles and the most difficult wheel arches on the roads right now – and obviously, Mike is the right man to be teaching these specialist skills.

“We’re all rooting for him in his quest to retain the title and are behind him as he continues to prove why he’s the best in the business.”

Advanced courses are limited to four attendees to ensure each delegate has the time and one-to-one tuition needed to learn and perfect applications. Additional bespoke content can be tailored to the needs of delegates and includes tight corners, trimming techniques, avoiding stretch discolouration and inlays, using a range of leading branded digital, reflective, coloured and chrome wrap films, from 3M, Avery Dennison and Arlon.
