Kongsberg, one of the most trusted and established names in the digital finishing industry, enters a new era today (6th April), transforming into a standalone company, Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (‘Kongsberg PCS’). The transformation follows the acquisition of the business by OpenGate Capital.

Esko, a global developer of integrated software and hardware solutions for the packaging and label sectors, has confirmed the successful closing of the sale of its Kongsberg digital finishing business to OpenGate Capital on April 1st 2021.

Wigan-based DM Signs has invested in new printing and finishing equipment from CMYUK. The family-owned firm has upgraded from an older Mimaki flatbed to the latest JFX 200-2513 EX model, and making the leap from a Summa f series cutter to a Kongsberg Esko X-44 digital cutting table. This equipment joins their existing Mimaki UCJV300-160 UV roll-to-roll printer as part of a major upgrade in capacity and capability coupled with a relocation to larger premises.

The Bristol based company established in 1971 by Don Cameron manufactures hot-air balloons. Mr Cameron started the company from the basement of his house where he would run production of these bespoke hot-air balloons. In 1983 Cameron Balloons moved into its current premises in the Bedminster area of the city of Bristol. The factory occupies three floors. Most of the factory space is devoted to laying out the hundreds of yards of brightly coloured fabric to then be cut and sewn together by skilled machinists. In 1989 the company received royal recognition “The Queen's Award for Export” and in 2000 was awarded “Prince Philip’s Designers Prize for outstanding achievement in design for business and society.”

Zund UK has installed a G3 Digital Cutter at the Dennison Group state-of-the-art facility in West Yorkshire to expand the Zund demonstration centre network in the UK.
