There was a distinctly Scandinavian feel about the finalist selections in this year's ProCarton ECMA Awards, including Finnish skincare and cosmetics firm Lumene’s creation of a new logo called ‘Wheel of Light’ just at the beginning of the year. The packaging concept was developed by international market leading packaging manufacturer Edelmann and a British design team from JDO. The goal was to emphasise the brand story that highlights the exceptional pure nature and yearly light cycle of the Scandinavian landscape with special visual and physical features.

New research suggests that demand for personalised packaging is becoming an industry norm and is increasingly being integrated into companies’ packaging strategies. 66% of packaging professionals who took part in the study stated that the personlisation of packaging is something they are currently implementing into their offering, or at least considering. In addition to this 89% of those questioned believe that this trend will only increase over the next two to three years.

X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone LLC, today reported that Finnish company Pyroll Packages is the first flexographic printer worldwide to achieve PANTONE Certified Printer status. The initial certification audit was conducted at the company’s location at Joensuu, one of ten locations across the country. Pyroll plans to continue this program in 2018. The certification was carried out by X-Rite Solutions Architect Mark Gundlach and International Technical Support and Application Expert Maxim Siniak together with Certified Pantone Partner and packaging repro house Flexolahti Oy and X-Rite dealer KTA Oy.
