The Print Show 2019 – a view from the world of social media

September 25, 2019

Now that the dust has settled after The Print Show 2019, Rob Fletcher takes a look at social media to see what visitors and exhibitors were saying online about this year’s event.

It was another busy three days for exhibitors at The Print Show as thousands of visitors descended on the fifth edition of the event. Attendees were greeted by some of the biggest names in global print, as well as a wide range of companies from niche, profit-making areas of the market.

This year was also one of the busiest on social media, with exhibitors and visitors interacting across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, sharing their experiences of the show with those not present in Hall 9.

But what were people saying? We’ve picked out some of the comments posted on The Print Show’s official social media channels and pages to give a view of how this year’s event was received.

Exhibitors Soyang Europe and Blue Castle Group used The Print Show to show off their new PVC Banner Recycling Scheme.

Posting on Twitter, Soyang Europe said: “Another successful Print Show, this time with our partners at Blue Castle Group. There’s been so much interest about the PVC Banner Recycling Scheme, so a big thank you to everyone who came onto our stand and has embraced new recycling ideas for the print industry.”

Elsewhere, printMAX posted a tweet thanking everyone for a great week, with a hashtag of ‘Exceeding Expectation’, while B&R Moll International also thanked organisers for a great three days at the NEC.

Axzyra was also full of praise for event director Chris Davies and his organising team, saying on Twitter: “We would like to thank you and your team for this opportunity with a great Print Show. Some are so focused on the negative points that they forget what a great annual opportunity for new business and showcase this is for the print industry in the UK.”

Lindstrom UK also weighed in with the conversation on Twitter, speaking about the final day: “It’s been a brilliant day seeing some new faces, as well as catching up with our existing customers. See you next year!”

In terms of visitors, there was a similar feeling of positivity, with many reaching out on social media to express their thanks to organisers.

Chilvers Repro described the show as a “brilliant event with plenty of interesting new print finishing solutions”, while the team over at Colour Connections said they had a fabulous time visiting the event.

Jag Jandu was full of praise for the “great range of printing equipment and ideas, from large-format to intricate foil printing, to wall art graphics” that were on show over the three days.

Padraic Kierans said it was “great to see plenty of print business being done” at the show, while Ali Bell said she had a great day out visiting the NEC.

There was also plenty of buzz among visitors and exhibitors about the celebrity speakers this year – Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE, Chris Eubank and Gregg Wallace.

Poppy joked on Twitter joked that she was too busy playing on the personalised pinball machine to notice that her partner was stood next to her chatting to Gregg Wallace, while Dragon Photography also tweeted that getting to meet and hear Sir Ranulph speak was “incredible”.

Chris Garside said it was “amazing” to meet Sir Ranulph on the first day of the show, while Classic Print enjoyed what the described as an “amazing and inspiring talk” by Chris Eubank.

Organisers are keen to welcome as much feedback as possible from visitors and exhibitors as they seek to build on the success of this year and improve the show for 2020.
