When PhD student and senior lecturer, Brent Hardy-Smith discovered the textile department’s new Mimaki UJF, he saw a great deal of potential.

Mimaki, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutting systems, today launched its, ‘Make the Difference’ campaign, designed to celebrate Mimaki-powered print innovation and customer success. Produced by some of the most inspirational print service providers and brands across Europe, the project explores digital print diversity with stories focussing on applications from POS/POP to textiles, direct-to-object and 3D applications.

The University of Huddersfield’s busy and bustling print room is a unique, creative space that provides students with a collaborative environment within which to explore the potential that inkjet printing offers their design process. The mastermind of Technical Manager Coordinator at the university’s School of Art, Design and Architecture, Stephen Calcutt, the print room houses a Mimaki UJF small format flatbed LED UV printer, a state of the art Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct to textile printer alongside further small format transfer printers, large format graphics devices, plus binding and other finishing processes.
